In an unexpected turn of events, I-League club Sreenidi Deccan has parted ways with head coach Domingo Oramas just 50 days after his appointment. Field Vision can exclusively confirm that the 51-year-old Spaniard, who had joined the Hyderabad-based second-division side last month, was relieved of his duties even before taking charge of an official match.
Sources close to the situation revealed that the decision was made after the club management felt that Oramas’ coaching philosophy did not align with the team’s vision. “The club has decided to terminate the contract of coach Domingo Oramas and his staff as the club management felt that the coach’s style did not fit into the club’s philosophy,” a source disclosed. The club has already shortlisted potential replacements, with an announcement expected soon.
Despite this change in leadership, the club is optimistic about its prospects for the upcoming I-League season. “The club feels that despite the change in leadership, there will be no effect on the team’s performance going into the season,” the source added. Furthermore, Field Vision has learnt that the official announcement by the club will be made soon.
Oramas’ short tenure at Sreenidi Deccan is unusual, given that he was brought in to guide the team towards a more successful campaign. The club, which has finished as runners-up in the past two I-League seasons, is aiming to finally secure promotion to the Indian Super League (ISL), the top tier of Indian football.
The team has bolstered its squad with notable signings, including former A-League midfielder Rory Bonevacia and Indian talents Lalchungnunga Chhangte, Ajay Chhetri and many more, indicating their intent to challenge for the I-League title once again.
