The winter transfer window is live and Indian football has already seen some players moving clubs in order to showcase their talent and strengthen the respective teams. For Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC, who have been struggling this season have loaned out versatile fullback Hardik Bhatt to I-League side Sreenidi Deccan FC, Fieldvision can exclusively confirm.
The former Rajasthan United FC captain was roped in by the Islanders in the summer on 1+1 year deal. However, lack of game time meant he had to leave the ISL side.
Hardik had represented Mumbai City FC only once this season where he made a rare start in 3-0 loss against NorthEast United FC. Hardik was a backup right back for Mumbai this season and with winter acquisition of Prabir Das from Kerala Blasters FC meant his bid for playing time further shrank.
A source closer to the development revealed, ” The situation was unpleasant (for Hardik) and with the club signing another right back meant only one thing: he had to leave and play elsewhere.”
However sources revealed that despite Prabir Das’ inclusion the Islanders management did not want him to leave. I-League side Sreenidi Deccan were looking for a quality right back and the situation of former Rajasthan United FC captain couldn’t be more obvious for the club.
Fieldvision has also learnt that Hardik had multiple offers on the table including the ISL sides. Despite everything, the deal wasn’t easy for Sreenidi as Mumbai City weren’t wanting to let him leave. The club from Telangana had to pay huge loan fee to sign the defender for the remainder of the campaign.
The source further revealed, “Sreenidi has paid huge loan fees that even Mumbai City FC couldn’t say no to and therefore Hardik was allowed to leave.”
Sreenidi Deccan meanwhile have been struggling this season and find themselves with just 10 points in eight games and with 2/3rd of the season yet to be played, the two times I-League runners up would seek a reversal of fortunes with the arrival of Hardik.
