FC Madras, a football club from Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, becomes the first team to reach the finals in the national level AIFF tournament in the sub junior category (U-13), after a nail-biting finish in the semis against Punjab FC. The match was a thrilling display of skill and determination, with both teams showcasing their appreciable talent throughout the game. After 230 games among 64 different teams, FC Madras has navigated its way to the final showdown.
The match remained goalless through both halves, with neither team able to find the back of the net. FC Madras dominated with numerous shots on target and several close calls in both halves. The boys showed tremendous persistence and resilience throughout the game. Cheers from FCM supporters and parents echoed passionately until the final whistle, keeping the energy high right to the end. With the scores tied at 0–0 after full time, the match headed into a nail-biting penalty shootout.
The penalty scorers were: Areez Alam, Mayengbam Tenison Singh, Mohammad Azlaan Landge, Jeremiah and Chottan Kumar.
With all eyes on the final penalty, Punjab had to score to stay alive—but Ankush, the FC Madras’s goalkeeper, made an extraordinary save, sealing the victory and securing FC Madras’s ticket to the finals!
FC Madras has reached the semis by winning 2 out of the 3 league matches and they won their quarter finals which was an intense game and the score was ( 2-1) in the favour of FC Madras . The finals will be played on Monday, 26th may and the kick off time is at 5:00pm
