In a significant development, I-League side Aizawl FC is set to sign Colombian center back Luis Angel Rodriguez Ayazo for the remainder of the season, Field Vision can exclusively confirm. The 29-year-old defender last represented Forca Kochi FC in the inaugural season of Super League Kerala
The Colombian represented the Kochi based franchise in 9 out of 13 encounters throughout the league. He had 22 tackles, 32 tackles and a goal to his name. Aizawl FC will be only his second assignment in India. The defender spent the majority of his playing career in home country of Colombia and El Salvador across multiple divisions.
A source with knowledge of the situation informed FV that Rodriguez is eager to move to the I-League as Aizawl look to strengthen their squad after four losses in last five games. The Mizoram based club find themselves in a precarious position lingering just outside the relegation just on goal difference.
The club managed just 9 points from 12 games and with 10 more games to go in the season, former I-League champions wants to stay out of dropping down to the third division.

The source quoted, “The club has decided to sign Luis Rodriguez for the remainder of the season. The club has conceded 25 goals in 12 matches and needed urgent reinforcements to make sure to get out of the misery. Luis’ profile was appreciated by the management and the deal was sealed”
Forca Kochi FC were the runners up of Super League Kerala having lost the finals against Calicut FC and Luis was one of the mainstays. While for Aizawl they registered a loss in their recent game against Sreenidi Deccan in Hyderabad.
The title race in I-League is one to cherish as Namdhari FC, Churchill Brothers FC and Inter Kashi separated by 3 points. It will be interesting to see which club wins the title and qualifies for the upcoming season of ISL.
